For larger-than-average moves, we often phase work over a period of days around completion day.

It is not quite as simple as employing a small army of troops to clear a property, then deliver to a new one.

Often it is impractical and dangerous to attempt to clear a large or full property on the morning of completion day.

With the uncertain nature of the English completion system, there can be even less time available for same-day delivery. In these cases, we attend the home on the day prior to completion. A large percentage of non-essential goods are then pre-loaded on to our vehicles or into storage containers and stored ‘on wheels’.

Where basic cleaning, renovation / decoration is required, we often hold onto these non-essential goods for a few more days or even weeks, facilitating this work.

Our clients, Daniel and Kate were upsizing their 4 bedroom house in Chelmsford to a larger property in Colchester. By their own admission, a growing family had left them bursting at the seams and more space was a necessity.

We estimated the volume of their goods to require two trucks. Our clients decided to undertake the packing themselves; they saw it as an excellent opportunity to have a de-clutter prior to the move to the new house. In fact, their aim was to reduce the volume.

Due to the large volume, we undertook the move over three phases: The day before completion day, we loaded the first truck with as much of the non-essential goods as possible. We made sure that the family were left with beds, sofas and table as well as essential overnight effects. Upon return to our depot, the vehicle was parked securely inside our warehouse.

Completion day was then reduced to a smaller move made up of essential living items. We had the house cleared by 11am, leaving our clients to run round with a hoover well aghead of the 1pm evacuation time. Upon completion, we delivered these essential goods and reassembled beds. We departed the property at 4:30pm, leaving our client comfortable for the first night in their new home. The day after completion day, we then delivered the balance of goods in a calm and orderly fashion, leaving our client organised and tidy.
