Planning & preparing & household effects; Taking as much time as possible to pack & prepare your goods for the removal is the
most important thing you can do.
Following the instructions below should mean that your goods will arrive safely in your new home. These instructions are only a general guideline.
Some items may need specialist packing. Please ask if you have any questions about packing of your goods.
Furniture - All drawers and cupboards should be completely emptied and the contents placed into cartons. Where available, all furniture
should be dismantled for transportation. This applies especially to furniture that was purchased flat packed.
Beds - the night before your move, dismantle all beds and lay mattresses on the floor. This will save you time on the day of your move.
All fittings, screws and removable parts should be placed into small plastic bags (Freezer Food bags are great for this!) and placed
into one box labelled “bits box”.If screws or other fittings are taped to furniture, it could cause damage to the item or the fittings may come loose
and be lost.
Appliances - defrost & drain all water and remove all contents from fridges/freezers. Washing machines / Dishwashers - must be
disconnected and transit bars/bolts must be fitted to secure the drum
PACKING
The basic rule for removals is that if an item will fit into a box, it should be packed into a box. All original cartons for TV's, computers, stereos etc
should be used.
Large Pictures & Paintings - wrap a sheet of bubble wrap around frame and over glass & pack into a box, larger paintings should be left
for the crew to professionally wrap & protect
Hanging garments can be placed onto hanging garment rails on the day of your relocation, or previously supplied specialist cartons.
China & Glassware should be packed into med/large cartons. All plates, soup bowls etc. Should be packed into two/three at a time and
stood on their side. All glasses, cups, teapots & ornaments should be well protected and packed standing the right way up. Do not lay any
items down!!!
Books/videos/Tin/Bottles etc. should be packed tightly into small boxes. Clothing, quilts, pillows, linen, cuddly toys and other soft items
can be packed into large sacks/ Bags.
Pack according to weight and fill to the top of each box. If a small space is left over, use either paper to fill out or possibly clothings/
cushions/tea towels etc. Do not interlock flaps, close together and tape securely! Write general content on each box and the room that you
would like the items to be placed into.
Any items you are unsure of, please contact us and we will advise you accordingly. Thank-you.
